"Art that remembers the lives that came before"
Studio Kre'at is a space for ancestral art - where family histories, faith and lived experience are translated into stitched, written works of creativity that honour memory with care.
Welcome to Studio Kre'at, Where Art Becomes A Vessel For Memory
Studio Kre’at is a quiet place of making where art becomes a and vessel for memory, faith and the lives that came before us.
what began as a space for personal creative expressionhas slowly deepened into something more intentional. Through the unfolding of my own family history, I have come to see that my work is not only about what I feel or see, but about what has been entrusted to me.
I am a ancestral artist.
Through stitched textiles, sketchbook pages, written letters, sketches and paintings I seek to preserve and honour the stories of those who lived before me - thjeir daily rhythms, their hardships, their faith and the social worlds they moved within.
Each piece begins with research and rememberance. A name. A place. A fragment of a life.
From there, I translate what is known and what is quietly felt into written or visual form. Texture becomes labour. Thread becomes time. Gold becomes light carried through generations.
This work is not about recreating the past perfectly. It is about holding it truthly.
My own life as the artist and founder of this studio has shaped the way I hold these stories.
I am a woman of deep Catholic faith, a wife and a mother of five grown children. For over 25 years, I have lived with chronic and life altering illnesses - having walked through both cervical and brain cancer. I have also journeyed through the deep wounds of childhood trauma, depression and complex PTSD.
These experiences have formed within me a quiet endurance, an attentiveness to suffering, to resilience and to the unseen strength carried in ordinary lives.
It is this way of seeing that I now bring to my ancestors.
I do not approach their stories from a distance, but with great respect for what it means to endure, to labour, to believe and to continue.
Studio Kre'at exists as a bridge:
-
Between history and the present
-
Between the seen and the unseen
-
Between memory and making
Here, art becomes a way of remembering AND remembering becomes a way of continuing.
You are so welcome here.

Artist Statement
My practice sits at the intersection of ancestry, memory and faith.
I create visual and writtenworks that honour the lives of my ancestors with particular attention to social realities, daily labour and spiritual beliefs. Through genealogical research and historical context, I begin with what is known - names, places, occupations, records allowing this foundation to guide each piece.
From there, I work intuitively translating these histories into symbolic form through stitching, drawing, painting and text.
Material becomes meaning.
Thread may speak of endurance or continuity.
Repetition may echo prayer or routine.
Worn textures may reflect labour, migration or survival.
Rather than romanticisingthe past, I seek to approach it with integrity - holding both its beauty and its hardship with care.
My role is not to recreate history - but to witness and feel it.
Each work becomes a quiet act of preservation - a way of making visible the lives that might otherwise remain unseen.
Through this practice, I explore how memory is carried, how faith is lived in ordinary moments and how creative work can serve as a bridge between generations.
