Art Spotlight — Building the House That Remembered
There is something quietly sacred about making a home that no longer stands as it once did.
And so this little cottage is not an exercise in miniature making. It is my way of sitting beside a woman whose hands shaped ordinary days that history never thought to record.
The cottage where Mary Martha , John, and their children lived in Cahir before moving to the Cashel Army barracks now sits derelict beneath a weathered roof. Moss has claimed the walls and that roof as the premises stands empty.
Time has carried away the sounds that once filled those rooms.
But love leaves traces.
So I have begun rebuilding it from cardboard, plaster, thread, wood, and imagination.
I am trying to understand a life by making space for it.
As each wall rises inside my studio, I find myself wondering where she kneaded bread, where she stitched clothing, where she comforted children, where she prayed when the days were heavy.
Perhaps this is what remembrance looks like.
Not preserving ruins.
But carrying forward the ordinary places where women quietly kept life alive.
And so, today in spotlight of another artistic project beginning this is your invitation to join me on the journey.
