Making Peace With What Is

And so I found myself writing these simple words in my journal today;

“Life is not at all as I imagined, but being able to make peace with life as it is ~ I am so blessed and grateful to live each day as who I am.”

There was a time when I believed peace would come when life finally resembled the plans I had carefully carried.

Yet the years have taught me something far gentler.

Peace does not always arrive through changed circumstances.

More often, it is found when we loosen our grip on the life we expected and begin to receive the life that has quietly unfolded before us.

My path has taken turns I never could have foreseen.

Some have brought heartache, others healing.

Yet woven through it all has been a grace that continues to meet me each morning, inviting me to live this one ordinary, precious day.

I no longer measure a good life by how closely it resembles my dreams.

Instead, I measure it by gratitude, the ability to notice light on the studio floor, to create with hands that still long to make, to pray, to love, to be present.

Life is not what I imagined.

It is, perhaps, something quieter.

And in accepting it for what it is, I have discovered a deep and abiding joy.

Today, I am simply grateful to be here, living this one life as the person God has gently shaped me to become.

Wherever you are, I hope that you are finding peace in who you are ~ wherever and whatever that looks like.
