Sides To Life We Don’t See…

you would of seen and read a snippet of my thoughts as a AFL fan, as I found myself stopping…not just to watch the game, but to think about the sides of life we don’t see.

I’m sitting this afternoon again thinking about the unseen sides to life we don’t see and so I journal these thoughts here:

And when I say the unseen, I mean the quiet struggles so many carry ~ the ones that never make it to the surface, the ones held so tightly because reaching out feels too hard, too complicated, or simply not possible.

I know this place.

There was a time in my life where trauma and pain were buried deep within me ~ where silence felt safer than speaking, and asking for help felt out of reach.

I broke… physically and mentally.

And in that breaking, I found myself in a place I never imagined ~ a mental health unit, after trying to take my own life.

It was there, in that space, that something began.

Not a sudden transformation.

Not a perfect healing.

But the smallest shift… toward facing what had been carried for so long.

And now, I often find myself wondering ~ how many lives around us hold stories just like this?

How many people sit beside us at games, in homes, in everyday moments… carrying things they don’t know how to name, or don’t feel safe enough to share?

This isn’t a story that began with me.

And I know it doesn’t end with me either.

But I also know this ~ what is carried in silence does not always have to remain there.

Not all at once.

Not loudly.

But sometimes, in the quietest ways… it begins to shift.

So today, my thoughts go out to you and to your loved ones, your friends, the ones around you who may be carrying more than they can say.

If that is you, I see you.

And even if it feels distant right now… there is still a small, steady thread that can lead you forward.

One step.

One moment.

One quiet reaching.

And sometimes… that is where everything begins.

The way you put words down about your own experiences is so important and we would like to talk to you about the possibility of having you write a column for us.

We have emailed you directly but also wanted to add a testimony so that the algorithm can push you and your work forward in to the world.

We look forward to speaking with you.
