The Quiet Company We Keep: Episode 10 ~ The Houses We Carry Within Us

Hello,

Today I stepped back into the podcast room and as I sipped tea and chatted I realised there are some rooms I return to again and again.

The room of faith.

The room of prayer.

They are quiet rooms where I have learned to sit with God, even when I have no words left.

It is there that I have found comfort, courage, and a peace that keeps inviting me to stand again.

And as my family history has unfolded, I have often found myself thinking of the women who came before me ~ my three times great-grandmothers, Mary Martha and Honora, and my great-grandmothers, Elizabeth and Mary Frances. And there is my mother Carole.

I do not think of them with certainty as though I know the mysteries of Heaven. Rather, I hold them with hope, through the faith that has shaped my life.

Sometimes, in prayer, I have a quiet sense that these faithful women continue pointing me toward Christ.

Not drawing me to themselves.

But gently opening doorways that lead me back to the One who has always been walking with me.

It reminds me that faith is never only inherited through stories or names.

Sometimes it is inherited through courage.

Through quiet endurance.

Through women who kept praying, kept loving, and kept trusting God in ordinary days.

And perhaps that is one of the greatest gifts an ancestor can leave behind, not certainty about the path, but a life that still encourages us to keep walking it.

These words speak of the tenth episode of The Quiet Company We Keep podcast and if you would like to listen, reflect, remember and pray ~ here it is: https://youtu.be/zzDBPXLfJVA?si=K6kXRkgN8ZqHpcks

There’s always a place for you , so let us sit together there for a little while.
